Formerly the gold standard in the competitive sport sedan segment, the 2020 BMW 3 Series was lost when BMW introduced the current generation model in 2012. Journalists and buyers have criticized a steering that lacks sensations and a chassis which fades; The mid-cycle update did little to address these issues. The company says it has made every effort to make the next generation model more dynamic by developing new suspension, steering and braking components.
Exterior and Interior
From the start, it’s clear that the 2020 BMW 3 Series Touring 2020 is not unlike the current model. It always gets the same proportions, lines and overall aesthetics, although with some small differences in general. In our opinion, the new 2020 BMW 3 Series looks like a 5 Touring series, but smaller. That said, it is likely that the new Series 3 will get small incremental increases in overall external dimensions over the outgoing model. At the front, look for the iconic kidney grille with a slight refit, which will give a wider and narrower look that enhances the width of the car’s visual interface. naseaux should also come with the shutter function in order to keep the engine nice and cool, or to present a more elegant and aerodynamic shape to the wind, which adds to the overall mpg figures. The headlights will also have a slight change of shape, again offering a broad and retracted look. Look for the LED lighting elements that will be used for both front and underlined daylighting. The remodeled images will also add some differentiation. Moving sideways, we find large 17 inch alloy wheels supplied in series. The profile also reveals a set of roof bars at the top to help in the practical part of the equation. The lower character lines will pull directly out of the sedan and it is likely that the edge of the window will be covered with chrome. Finally, we head backwards, where we see the hatch has a subtle vanishing edge flap added to the roof. The shape of Bimmer’s tail will use a square shape, with a steep slope to the rear window, with a flat bottom section door and a bumper. The bumper will contain two polished exhaust tips with a rounded design.
While we still have to make shots inside the 2020 BMW 3 Series Touring, it is more than likely to get the same layout and design as the standard model 2020 BMW 3 series. For this purpose, take note of the BMW 8 Series and Grand Tourer X5 SUV, and should include a reformed center console emphasizing the all new horizontal switch gear and a sporty three spoke steering wheel. A front screen will project important information about the windshield just outside the driver’s direct field of vision. Control everything will be the latest iDrive vehicle control system, as well as an updated voice recognition feature. We would also like to see BMW integrate advanced gesture control into the mix. The finishing touches should include a quieter interior and a plethora of high quality materials, including the usual Alcantara, leather and metal pieces. We are also expecting small incremental increases in the passenger lounge and luggage room. Speaking of which, the current 2020 BMW 3 Series offers 27.5 cubic feet of space with the rear seats up and 53 cubic feet with the seats down.
Under the hood, the 2020 BMW 3 Series touring fit the same engines as the standard model of the 3 series. The meat and potatoes line includes internal combustion engines with turbocharged gas induction, with most buyers entering four cylinder 2.0 liter or a six cylinder option of 3.0 liters. It can also offer a super efficient three cylinder option, which will generate 135 horsepower with only 1.5 liters of displacement. Speaking of efficiency, we would not be surprised if BMW included an option for a hybrid engine, possibly the brand’s iPerformance product line. If the new Series 3 car has a hybrid option, expect it to offer a full electric racing range, with up to 30 miles without local emissions. As far as badges go, a 330i model with a 2.0 liter 2.0 is expected to deliver the 3.0 liter M340i M Performance badge. The diesel option proposed in the past will probably be used for to come up. Production levels range from 200 horsepower to 265 horsepower, while the M340i range will likely have about 375 horsepower. All routing will be an eight speed automatic transmission. Standard specifications will include RWD as standard and the option for AWD across the pond.
Price and release date
The new, recently updated G20 2020 BMW 3 series is expected to fall later in 2018 for the 2019 model year. However, the new Sports Wagon version is not expected to arrive until next year, probably in the fall of 2019. It is likely that prices do not change from current figures. For the moment, the 2020 BMW 3 Series Touring starts at $ 44,650 for the 330i xDrive, with upgraded equipment including Shadow Sport Edition Design starting at $ 46,000 and M Sport Design starting at $ 48,600.
